Basketball Recap: Murryah Crump's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Apollo over Valley Vista

If Apollo was riding high fresh off their 53-27 takedown of Boulder Creek last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Apollo Hawks came up short against the Valley Vista Monsoon on Thursday, falling 58-32. The Hawks lost against the Monsoon in their previous head to head back in January of 2015, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 63-12 score last time.

Apollo lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Murryah Crump, who posted 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Serenity Thomas, who scored seven points.

Apollo has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Valley Vista, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-5.

Apollo has already played their next contest, a 40-39 loss against West Point on the 17th. As for Valley Vista, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 61-58 defeat against Pinnacle on the 18th.
