Softball Game Preview: Tri-Central Trojans vs. Tipton Blue Devils

Tri-Central hasn't had much luck against Tipton recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Trojans will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. Tri-Central will be strutting in after a victory while Tipton will be coming in after a loss.

Tri-Central took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Maconaquah, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Trojans came out on top in a nail-biter against the Braves on Monday, sneaking past 8-6.

Layla Baldwin made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits. Baldwin was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4.

In other batting news, Tri-Central let Emily Maruszewski and Layla Keith run wild. Maruszewski went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Keith scored three runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Addy Mackey, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Tipton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 14-1 to Logansport.

Tipton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lacey Bitner, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

The win got Tri-Central back to even at 1-1. As for Tipton, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
