Baseball Recap: Bradford Tornadoes vs. Menendez Falcons
Bradford had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 8-14 to make it four. They fell just short of the Menendez Falcons by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-4 back in March.
Bradford got a good showing from Lucas White, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits.
At the plate, Ryland Rike was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run.
As for Menendez, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-14. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games.
On Menendez's side, Nick Massis looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave Massis a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Reeve Power, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Eli Ortiz also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Looking ahead, Bradford will square off against Crescent City at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tornadoes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 9.9 runs per game this season. Menendez does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
