Basketball Game Preview: Charlotte Christian Knights vs. Belton-Honea Path Bears

The Charlotte Christian Knights will take on the Belton-Honea Path Bears in a tournament on Friday. Charlotte Christian will be strutting in after a victory while Belton-Honea Path will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Charlotte Christian turned things around against South Charlotte on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Thunder with a sharp 69-46 win. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Knights just coasted through the last quarter.

Charlotte Christian's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Matty Carroll, who went 8 for 13 on his way to 17 points in addition to eight boards and five assists, and Jack Schonberg, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 16 points. That's the most boards Carroll has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Marshall Nicholson, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 12 points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, Belton-Honea Path suffered their biggest defeat since January 23rd on Monday. They were outmatched by Seneca and fell 81-50. The loss continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Bobcats: they've now lost eight in a row.

Charlotte Christian's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Belton-Honea Path, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.
