Basketball Game Preview: North Bullitt Eagles vs. Whitefield Academy Wildcats

North Bullitt is 0-4 against Whitefield Academy since March of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The North Bullitt Eagles will look to defend their home court against the Whitefield Academy Wildcats at 6:15 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

North Bullitt is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 64-58 heartbreaker at the hands of Nelson County.

Meanwhile, Whitefield Academy came tearing into Thursday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed past the Chargers to the tune of 72-13. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 46-4.

Whitefield Academy had a senior duo take command as Gwynnie Franz went 14-for-22 en route to 34 points and seven steals and Noel Smith almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds. With that strong performance, Franz is now averaging an impressive 15.6 points per game. Sharon Riis was another key player, putting up three points and four steals.

Whitefield Academy pushed their record up to 20-6 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.2 points over those games. As for North Bullitt, their loss dropped their record down to 10-17.

Things could have been worse for North Bullitt, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 52-37 loss to Whitefield Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Thankfully for North Bullitt, Sara Ritter (who went 8-for-14 to rack up 24 points and four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
