Recap: Mildred Eagles vs. Rice Bulldogs
If the Mildred Eagles were riding high off their 60-30 takedown of the Dawson Bulldogs on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Mildred took a 53-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Rice on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Mildred can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 765th, while Rice is ranked 240th).
Saniya Burks continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Rice, dropping a double-double on 40 points and ten rebounds. The matchup was Burks' 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Nezar, who scored six points.
Mildred's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Rice, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-4.
Mildred's road trip will continue as they head out to face Kemp at 12:15 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Kemp is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Rice and Dawson will round out the year against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday at.
