Baseball Game Preview: Leon Lions vs. St. John Paul II Panthers

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Leon Lions face off against St. John Paul II Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Leon 3.4, St. John Paul II 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Leon is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Wednesday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of Sebring. The match marked the first time this season in which the Lions were not able to get on the board.

Connor Borges spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, St. John Paul II has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 2.45 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Wednesday. They lost 10-2 to Chiles.

Mason Avant made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.

St. John Paul II's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Leon, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-4.
