The GRACE Christian Eagles will head out to challenge the Cary Academy Chargers at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. GRACE Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11 runs per game this season.
It was a Battle of the Birds when GRACE Christian challenged Ravenscroft on Tuesday. GRACE Christian put the hurt on Ravenscroft with a sharp 17-2 win. Winning may never get old, but the Eagles sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Addison Vercellino made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Vercellino was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

In other batting news, Lydia Lester was a standout: she got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Taylor Laraway was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.
GRACE Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .828. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 23 runs the game before, Cary Academy was a bit more limited in their contest on Saturday. They came up short against Charlotte Latin, falling 19-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Chargers in their meetings with the Hawks: they've now lost four in a row.
GRACE Christian's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Cary Academy, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. GRACE Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .395. However, it's not like Cary Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .500. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
