Softball Recap: Chireno Takes a Loss

Chireno was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 7-3 to the Shelbyville Dragons. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Owls of the 5-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2019.

Chireno's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Shelbyville, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chireno will face off against Martinsville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chireno is facing Martinsville at the right time seeing as Martinsville is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Shelbyville, they will challenge Broaddus at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Broaddus has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.25 runs per game on average), something Shelbyville will no doubt try to take advantage of.
