Baseball Game Preview: Cameron Dragons vs. Stewartsville Cardinals

The Cameron Dragons are taking a road trip to challenge the Stewartsville Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with seven defeats in a row, Cameron turned things around against Lexington on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Minutemen 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Dragons have posted since April 7th.

Gannon Hamilton made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

Hamilton wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carter Flick, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base. Those three hits gave Flick a new career-high.

Cameron always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Stewartsville had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Stanberry 9-1 on Tuesday.

Cameron's record now sits at 5-11. As for Stewartsville, their record is now 3-6.
