Lake Wales proved they can win big two weeks ago (they won by ten) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the Auburndale Bloodhounds 13-12. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Highlanders have posted since February 20th.

The team relied heavily on Keira Davis, who went 3-for-5 with two triples, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most triples she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jamie Sepsick, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Davis wasn't the only one making solid contact: Lake Wales kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive matchups.

Lake Wales is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Auburndale, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lake Wales beat the Bloodhounds by a score of 9-4 on Tuesday.
