Basketball Recap: Everton Comes Up Short

Everton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They had to suffer through a 70-30 loss at the hands of the Lockwood Tigers. While losing is never fun, Everton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 555th, while Lockwood is ranked 198th).

Despite the defeat, Everton saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Joshua Daniels dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 80% of Everton's points, marking the 12th time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Sanders, who scored no points and five boards.

Everton's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Lockwood, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Everton has already played their next matchup (against McAuley Catholic), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Lockwood will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Ash Grove at 7:30 p.m. on January 27th.
