Baseball Recap: Thomasville Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Starmount, Thomasville was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 13-1 margin over the Bishop McGuinness Villains. For the Bulldogs, this counts as revenge for the 10-0 win the Villains walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2017.

Travail Barnes made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only a hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Barnes was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Thomasville got a massive performance out of Matthew Bankhead, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Bankhead a new career-high in hits (three). Mkyel Duncan was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Thomasville's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Bishop McGuinness, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Thomasville will challenge Wheatmore at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bishop McGuinness, they will square off against Dudley at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
