Basketball Recap: Manila Starts off Right with Win over Tintic

Manila had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They enjoyed a cozy 53-37 victory over the Tintic Miners on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Miners: they've now won eight in a row.

Manila was led to victory by Charly Potter and Kassali Wahl. Potter shot 47% from the field en route to 17 points and six steals, while Wahl posted 19 points and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Potter a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (33%). Another player making a difference was Oakley Browning, who earned seven points and five boards.

Tintic's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jordan Conder, who put up four points and six rebounds, and Makenna Underwood, who scored eight points and 11 boards.

Tintic's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Manila didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-54 loss against Wendover on the 22nd. As for Tintic, they will challenge Piute at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
