Recap: East Wake Warriors vs. Knightdale Knights
The East Wake Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 44-29 bruising from Knightdale. East Wake lost against Knightdale in their previous head to head back in November, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 61-27 score last time.
East Wake's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Erica Rawlings, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. Rawlings scored a full 34.5% of East Wake's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Alani Butler, who scored eight points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Knightdale to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ja?Kiyah Moore, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Moore has scored at least 25% of Knightdale's points. Melody Bryant was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with four steals.
East Wake's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Knightdale, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Wake will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Southern Wayne at 6:15 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Southern Wayne is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. Knightdale will be home for the holidays to greet J.F. Webb at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
