Basketball Recap: Cooper Burgmeier's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Coram Deo Academy over Quad Cities Christian

The Coram Deo Academy Warriors might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 58-30 to the Quad Cities Christian Eagles, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Warriors came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 57th in Iowa, while the Eagles are ranked 291st in Illinois).

Coram Deo Academy lost on Monday despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Cooper Burgmeier, who posted nine points along with six steals and five boards. Burgmeier is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least four every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Issac Nicol, who earned ten points.

It was another big night for Tanner Garant, who dropped a double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds for Quad Cities Christian. With that strong performance, Garant is now averaging an impressive 8.4 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Alijah Zentic, who shot 43% from the field on his way to 14 points and six steals.

Coram Deo Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season. As for Quad Cities Christian, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-1.

Coincidentally, Coram Deo Academy and Quad Cities Christian will both be playing Unity Christian the next time they take the court. The Warriors will host the Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Eagles will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
