Softball Recap: Forest Hills Continues Home Dominance on Friday

On Friday Forest Hills's undefeated season almost came to an end. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Bellefonte Raiders 3-1. Those three runs were actually the fewest the Rangers have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Avery Smiach spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 13 Ks. Those 13 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Ana Spangler was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

Forest Hills pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Bellefonte, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Looking ahead, Forest Hills will head out to square off against Meyersdale at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Bellefonte, they will welcome Greater Johnstown at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
