Baseball Recap: Frankfort Finds Home Field Redemption Against Southmont

There's no place like home for Frankfort, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They put the hurt on the Southmont Mounties with a sharp 11-2 victory on Tuesday. The Hot Dogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by nine runs or more this season.

Michael Santos was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lalo Castillo, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Lucas Waggoner, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Frankfort always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southmont only posted an OBP of .273.

Frankfort's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Southmont, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Frankfort will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Mounties: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
