Basketball Game Preview: Vergennes Commodores vs. Peoples Academy Wolves

The Vergennes Commodores and the Peoples Academy Wolves will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, Vergennes blew past Stowe, posting a 67-14 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Commodores.

Meanwhile, Peoples Academy put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 47-35 win over Twinfield. While the Wolves didn't have the best season last year (they finished 1-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Peoples Academy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-0. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 20.3 points per game. As for Vergennes, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Everything came up roses for Vergennes against Peoples Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, as the team secured a 53-26 victory. Will Vergennes repeat their success, or does Peoples Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
