Softball Game Preview: Prosper Eagles vs. Plano West Wolves

Prosper is 0-5 against Plano West since March of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Eagles will welcome the Wolves at 7:15 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Prosper sitting on seven straight wins and Plano West on three.

Prosper had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Princeton on Tuesday. The Eagles blew past the Panthers 10-2. Considering the Eagles have won eight games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Plano West got the win against Princeton on Friday by a conclusive 11-1.

Abby Cuellar looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Andrea Carrillo, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Isabella Dunn was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Plano West kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Princeton only managed three hits.

Prosper pushed their record up to 19-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Plano West, their victory bumped their record up to 16-8.
