Challenger suffers third straight loss on the road

Recap: Challenger Firebirds vs. Reynolds Mountain Christian Academy Eagles

The Challenger Firebirds's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They took a hard 49-35 fall against Reynolds Mountain Christian Academy. Challenger was down 45-21 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the loss, Challenger still got an impressive performance from Grace Boston, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three blocks. That's the first time this season that Boston posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Arianna Dancy, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds.

Challenger struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Reynolds Mountain Christian Academy racked up ten assists.

Reynolds Mountain Christian Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Arianna Ritz out in front who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Lily Denson was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with three steals.

Challenger's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.7 points per game. As for Reynolds Mountain Christian Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.

Challenger does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Reynolds Mountain Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Victory Christian at 5:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Victory Christian has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 0-3 during that stretch of close contests.
