Baseball Recap: Regents Wins Going Away Against Brentwood Christian

Regents won the last time they faced Brentwood Christian and things went their way on Thursday too. The Knights blew past the Bears 11-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.

Jack Buerkle made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Regents is 5-1 when Buerkle posts two or more runs, but 0-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, Cash Nelson was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carlyle Spicer, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Regents hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brentwood Christian struck out ten times.

Regents' record now sits at 5-6. As for Brentwood Christian, they dropped their record down to 3-13 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Regents will take on Bishop Dunne at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights are facing the Falcons at the right time seeing as the Falcons are stuck on a six-game losing streak. Brentwood Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
