Baseball Game Preview: DeKalb Barons vs. Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran Cadets

The DeKalb Barons will head out on the road to take on the Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran Cadets at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. DeKalb is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.

While DeKalb didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 9-5 win over Fort Wayne Snider on Wednesday.

Ashten Tuttle was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Brady Vince was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran). They came out on top against Fort Wayne South Side on Thursday by a score of 15-4 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Cadets not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 14, 2024 (when they won 11-0).

DeKalb's record is now 8-1. As for Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

DeKalb skirted past Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran 4-3 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Barons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
