Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Loss Ends Kermit's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Kermit unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 66-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Alpine Bucks. The Yellow Jackets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bucks earlier this season, when they won 54-34.

Despite the loss, Kermit still got an impressive performance from Ebbin Mallory, who went 5 for 8 en route to 17 points along with six boards and four steals. Mallory is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last five games she's played. Aleixa Lara also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Alpine found their leader in freshman Gyllian Morrissey, who went 10 of 22 on her way to 26 points in addition to eight steals and seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Morrissey has scored all season. Colette Fowlkes was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 19 boards.

Kermit's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 12-7. As for Alpine, their victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-7.

Kermit has already played their next contest (against Anthony), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Alpine didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 51-31 win against Balmorhea on the 24th.
