Softball Recap: Ridgeline Academy Picks Up Tenth Consecutive Victory

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ridgeline Academy). They blew past the Maricopa Institute of Technology Iron Eagles 25-3 on Tuesday. The Eagles' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Olivia Baird was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Baird was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ridgeline Academy got a massive performance out of Meera Hamieh, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, five runs, and six RBI. Hamieh also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Rylie Morris, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with seven stolen bases, five runs, and three RBI.

Ridgeline Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .733. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Ridgeline Academy's record now sits at 10-0. As for Maricopa Institute of Technology, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-8.

Coincidentally, Ridgeline Academy and Maricopa Institute of Technology will both be playing Mission Heights Prep the next time they take the field. The Eagles will host the Phantoms at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Iron Eagles will head out to face them at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
