Gateway waltzed into their matchup on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Lely Trojans 8-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 19-3 back in February.
Sean Collins looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in February.
At the plate, Jacob Hardman was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jadon Torres, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run and two RBI.
Gateway's record now sits at 13-4. As for Lely, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season.
Gateway will be playing in front of their home fans against IMG Academy White at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lely, they will take on Southwest Florida Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
