The biggest upset of the week belonged to St. Genevieve, who took down 717th ranked St. Anthony, 28-21. Makhile Webb in the win.
The Valiants moved up to 747 from 800 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Santa Fe. St. Genevieve was able to make move up by topping the Saints 28-21.
Josh Martinez was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 30 carries, he ran for 130 yards as Bellarmine-Jefferson lost to Brent Huff's team.
Jihad Vercher put up the best numbers through the air as Salesian bested Firebaugh. He finished with a total of four completions for 144 yards and three touchdowns.
Jake Hooper provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Mario Morales' team fell to the Valiants. He completed 13 passes for 228 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for 39 yards. Hooper's favorite target this week was Jackson, who caught eight passes for 132 yards.
The Mustangs' Vercher and Marquis Ware have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Vercher has thrown for 1996 yards this season, while Ware, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 27 catches for 527 yards. Martinez from the Guards leads the league in rushing with 1720 yards.
Entering into this week's contest against Capistrano Valley Christian, Vercher is short just four passing yards to break 2,000 on the season.
St. Monica was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in Santa Fe. The Mariners defeated Bellarmine-Jefferson 34-14 earlier in the week.
