Basketball Recap: Mountain Island Charter Takes a Loss

Mountain Island Charter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 37-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pine Lake Prep Pride. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Raptors of the 54-37 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Mountain Island Charter saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kayla Fudge posted 11 points. The dominant performance gave Fudge a new career-high in points.

Even though they lost, Mountain Island Charter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pine Lake Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Raegan Blickley, who put up 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caitlin Green, who had nine points.

Mountain Island Charter now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Pine Lake Prep, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountain Island Charter will take on Langtree Charter Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pine Lake Prep, they will challenge Lincoln Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
