After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Ripon, Markesan was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Montello Hilltoppers with a sharp 11-2 victory. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.
Hannah Stellmacher made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Stellmacher was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Markesan got a big performance out of Samantha Minnema, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Minnema has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Lauren Moldenhaur, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Markesan's win bumped their record up to 6-12-2. As for Montello, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-14-1.
As of now, neither Markesan nor the Hilltoppers have any future games scheduled.
