Softball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Fredericksburg

Fredericksburg entered their tilt with Wimberley on Friday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They blew past the Texans 13-3. This was a revenge game for the Billies: when they faced off against the Texans back in March, they had to take a 4-3 defeat.

Makenna Duecker spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, Fredericksburg got a massive performance out of Larryn Feuge, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Sydney Meyer also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Feuge wasn't the only one making solid contact: Fredericksburg kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in five consecutive contests.

Fredericksburg pushed their record up to 17-9 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Wimberley, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-15.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fredericksburg will head out to square off against Canyon Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Canyon Lake has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.1 runs per game on average), something Fredericksburg will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Wimberley, they will venture away from home to take on Davenport at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
