Softball Recap: Pender Takes a Loss

Pender extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 13-8 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Heide Trask Titans. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Patriots have suffered since March 14th.

Kenyatta Jacobs made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie Iddings, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Heide Trask, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. The win made it back-to-back victories for they.

On Heide Trask's side, Dava Bullard made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over 6.2 innings pitched. Bullard was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Jalyn Reece-Murray was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two triples, three runs, and one RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Makayla Smith was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs.

Pender does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Heide Trask, they will face off against Whiteville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wolfpack will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Titans surely won't give up without a fight.
