Volleyball Recap: Collegiate Comes Up Short at Home Against Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association

Collegiate unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association Patriots by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.

Collegiate took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 25-19, 21-25, 19-25, 25-19, 15-10.

Despite the loss, Collegiate saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Avery Rolfe had eight aces and six digs.

The win keeps Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association at an undefeated 5-0.

Collegiate and Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Cougars are set to challenge their familiar foe St. Catherine's at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association will square off against rival Lynchburg HomeSchool at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
