Volleyball Recap: Thunderbird Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins at Home

If Thunderbird was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Paradise Honors on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Titans took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Goldwater Bulldogs on Wednesday. While the Titans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bulldogs 25-15 in the first set.

Thunderbird started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 15-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-18.

Samuel Ashcraft paced Thunderbird's offense, picking up 16 kills. Ashcraft got some help from Owen StClair and his 34 assists. Xavier Gere controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Among those leading the charge was Zachery Mieszkowski, who had 17 digs and one assist. Those 17 digs gave him a new career-high.

Thunderbird's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-5. As for Goldwater, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-5.

Thunderbird has already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Moon Valley on the 17th. As for Goldwater, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-2 win against Greenway on the 17th.
