Baseball Recap: Blue Ridge Wins Going Away Against Travelers Rest

Blue Ridge never got on the board in their matchup on Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Travelers Rest on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Devildogs. Considering the Fighting Tigers have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Sinton Torres was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Brady Smouse was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Blue Ridge is undefeated when Smouse posts one or more home runs, but 9-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Corbin King, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

The win got Blue Ridge back to even at 12-12. As for Travelers Rest, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-17.

As of now, neither Blue Ridge nor the Devildogs have any future games scheduled.
