Softball Recap: Pojoaque Valley Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Pojoaque Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Taos Tigers on Saturday as they made off with a 19-10 victory. The Elks/Elkettes not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since March 22nd (when they won 19-4).

The team relied heavily on Allayah Rios, who fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-5. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Izabella Lujan, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Pojoaque Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matches.

Pojoaque Valley's win bumped their record up to 5-16. As for Taos, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-12.

Pojoaque Valley will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Tigers: the pair will be back at it again later today.
