Softball Recap: Good Hope Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

Good Hope entered their tilt with Fairview on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Aggies by a score of 6-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-0 back in March.

Molly Benefield made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lizzy Steed was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Natalie Miller was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Good Hope was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Good Hope's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-11-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Fairview, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Good Hope will venture away from home to face off against Cordova at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Fairview, they will head out to take on Vinemont at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
