Basketball Recap: Union City Comes Up Short

Union City won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Saturday. They had to suffer through a 65-33 loss at the hands of the Tri Titans. The Indians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Titans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February.

Union City's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Gabrielle Ordonez, who posted 12 points, and Oaklee Reichard, who scored ten points. Reichard is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played.

Tri's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nakaya Cridge, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 boards. Jillian Chew was another key player, putting up 18 points and six steals.

Union City's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Tri, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-2.

Union City will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Randolph Southern at 7:30 p.m. on January 10, 2025. As for Tri, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 59-53 loss against Brownstown Central on the 27th.
