Basketball Recap: Heritage Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Heritage Christian Academy and Providence Prep squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Heritage Christian Academy had to settle for second. They took a 47-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Providence Prep Rams.

When it comes to explaining why Heritage Christian Academy lost, don't look at Sara Spangler. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 18 points and 14 boards. The dominant performance also gave Spangler a new career-high in blocks (seven). Addelynn Reid was another key player, putting up seven points along with ten rebounds and four blocks.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Providence Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lilly Hodge, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine boards. Hodge has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Iris Patrick, who to rack up 11 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Heritage Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 19-2. As for Providence Prep, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

Heritage Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Providence Prep, they have already played their next contest, a 36-31 win against Grace Academy on the 22nd.
