Football Game Preview: Hutto Hippos vs. Round Rock Dragons + How To Watch

Hutto is 0-3 against Round Rock since October of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Hippos will be playing at home against the Dragons at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Hutto comes in on four and Round Rock on three.

Hutto gave up the first points on Thursday, but they didn't give up any more after. They enjoyed a cozy 34-18 win over Round Rock Westwood. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Hippos' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while the Warriors are ranked 341st).

Hutto's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Keilan Chavies led the charge by picking up 78 receiving yards and one score, while also rushing for 53 yards and one TD. Another signal caller making a difference was Kaden Stefek, who threw for 161 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes.

Hutto didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Hunter Frenette and Carlos Sorto. Frenette also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 15. Brayden Daniel was another major factor on D, forcing one fumble and making 14 total tackles.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Round Rock). They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 63-0 victory over Manor. The Dragons pushed the score to 56-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Mustangs had no chance of recovering from.

Hutto's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Round Rock, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
