Baseball Game Preview: Checotah Wildcats vs. Stilwell Indians

Checotah hasn't had much luck against Stilwell recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Wildcats will be playing at home against the Indians at 5:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Checotah made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Mannford, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 13-5 victory on Thursday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Mason Rainbolt made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off only two hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Treagan DuVall and Charles Collins did most of the damage at the plate: DuVall scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Collins scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave DuVall a new career-high in RBI (three). Camden Ferguson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Checotah always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Stilwell came up short against Berryhill on Tuesday, falling 24-11. The Indians haven't had much luck with the Chiefs recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Checotah's victory bumped their record up to 4-15. As for Stilwell, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.
