Basketball Recap: Cummings Comes Up Short

Cummings lost a heartbreaker to Jordan-Matthews when they met back in December of 2023, and they left with a heavy heart again on Friday. The Cummings Cavaliers took a 43-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jordan-Matthews Jets. The loss continues a trend for the Cavaliers in their matchups with the Jets: they've now lost three in a row.

Despite the loss, Cummings still got an impressive performance from Laniya Johnson, who posted 15 points. Another player making a difference was Makiyah Pettiford, who earned five points.

Jada Scott had a dynamite game for Jordan-Matthews, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 13 boards. The dominant performance gave Scott a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Saniya White, who put up six points and seven steals.

Cummings' defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Jordan-Matthews, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Cummings wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 55-19 victory against Bartlett Yancey on the 10th. As for Jordan-Matthews, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-38 loss against Chatham Central on the 10th.
