Basketball Recap: Manti Takes a Loss

Manti fought the good fight in their overtime match against Provo on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 52-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Provo Bulldogs. The Templars just can't catch a break and have now endured eight defeats in a row.

Despite the loss, Manti still got an impressive performance from Dax Anderson, who posted 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Mason, who earned four points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Even though they lost, Manti was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Provo only racked up five assists.

Makai Allen was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 24 points and nine boards for Provo. The dominant performance gave Allen a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Crew DeMartini, who had seven points and five rebounds.

Manti's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Provo, they pushed their record up to 8-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Manti wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 78-60 victory against Carbon on the 3rd. As for Provo, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 66-54 win against Stansbury on the 3rd.
