Basketball Game Preview: Memphis Rise Academy Rockets vs. Trezevant Bears

Memphis Rise Academy is 0-8 against Trezevant since February of 2022 but things could change on Friday. The Rockets will welcome the Bears at 6:00 p.m. Memphis Rise Academy will be strutting in after a win while Trezevant will be coming in after a loss.

If Trezevant heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Memphis Rise Academy took over last week. The Rockets walked away with a 58-46 victory over University on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rockets.

Memphis Rise Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Darius Gates, who went 8-for-15 en route to 19 points. Gates has also also been stellar as far as field goal percentage is concerned: he's posted one of at least 50% every time he's hit the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ta'Varreo Smith, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten boards.

Meanwhile, Trezevant was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 53-47 to Brighton.

Trezevant's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Memphis Rise Academy, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Memphis Rise Academy was taken down by Trezevant 70-43 in their previous meeting back in January. Can the Rockets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
