Football Recap: Owensboro Catholic Piles Up the Points Against Meade County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Owensboro Catholic). They breezed past the Meade County Green Waves to the tune of 61-7 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Aces, who have now won three matchups by 26 points or more so far this season.

A big part of Owensboro Catholic's win came down to the chemistry between Dre'Mail Carothers and his top target Xavier Maddox. Carothers threw for 373 yards and five touchdowns while completing 86.2% of his passes while Maddox picked up 191 receiving yards and three scores. Maddox showed off some serious burst, lighting up the secondary with a catch for 66 yards. Hudsen Ebelhar was in the mix too, providing Owensboro Catholic with two TDs.

Owensboro Catholic didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jude Cecil and Noah Grant. Owensboro Catholic received some extra help from Frank Igleheart, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

The victory made it two in a row for Owensboro Catholic and bumps their season record up to 5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.5 points over those games. As for Meade County, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Coming up, Owensboro Catholic will host Hancock County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The contest will give the Aces their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Meade County, they will take on South Warren at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Green Waves will need to watch out since the Spartans have now posted at least 31 points in their last four games.
