Quitman benefitted from Shirley in 4-3 win
Winning always takes teamwork, but on Tuesday Patten Shirley stepped things up a notch to give Quitman the 'W'. Shirley was dynamite, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits.
Shirley's strong effort led Quitman over Mendenhall and he'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Quitman has some work to do to even out the 2-7 series between these two since April of 2019, but a win here would be a good start.
