Basketball Game Preview: Roscommon Bucks vs. Pine River Area Bucks

Roscommon is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. They will challenge Pine River Area at 7:00 p.m. Pine River Area took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Roscommon, who comes in off a win.

Roscommon is headed out to face Pine River Area after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. The Bucks breezed past Grayling to the tune of 64-16 on Monday. The Bucks haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Roscommon can attribute much of their success to Zoey Kauffman, who shot 56% from the field en route to 24 points and seven steals, and Alexis Carper, who went 8-for-12 on her way to 16 points in addition to eight boards and five steals. Kauffman has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Mara Williams, who posted four points along with seven steals and five assists.

Roscommon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in ten consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Pine River Area came up short against Morley Stanwood on Monday, falling 73-50. The Bucks have struggled against the Mohawks recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Roscommon took their victory against Pine River Area when the teams last played back in January by a conclusive 58-38 score. Will Roscommon repeat their success, or does Pine River Area has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
