Baseball Recap: East Central Snags 12th Win in Last 14 Games

The home team had won the previous two meetings between East Central and North Pike, and East Central kept the tradition alive. The Hornets walked away with a 6-2 win over the Jaguars on Monday. That's the fifth time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 11-1 win on Saturday.

Anthony Tanner made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Porter Martin, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

East Central is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-14 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for North Pike, they dropped their record down to 21-12 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

As of now, neither East Central nor the Jaguars have any future games scheduled.
