Softball Recap: Cleveland Heights Takes a Loss

Cleveland Heights extended their losing streak to seven on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 3-11 in the process. They came up short against the Medina Battling Bees, falling 21-0. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Tigers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Medina, the victory got them back to even at 11-11. The result was nothing new for the Battling Bees, who have now won seven contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

For Medina's part, Addie Connelly made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Connelly was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Katie Rubino, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelsey Swinko, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Cleveland Heights will host Garfield Heights at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.88 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Medina, they are taking a road trip to square off against Brunswick at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Blue Devils will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Battling Bees surely won't give up without a fight.
