Softball Recap: Irmo Yellow Jackets vs. White Knoll Timberwolves
Irmo extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 29 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-17. They came up short against the White Knoll Timberwolves, falling 16-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Timberwolves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-5 back in March.
Irmo saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Malia Lewis, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run.
As for White Knoll, their record is now 9-10. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.
On White Knoll's side, Lexi Burkard made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Burkard has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, White Knoll got a massive performance out of Reginae Porterfield, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Porterfield has posted since back in April of 2025. Lillian Priest was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Irmo will square off against rival Chapin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, White Knoll is set to take on their familiar foe Lexington at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
