Football Game Preview: Riverside Vikings vs. Carbondale Area Chargers

The Riverside Vikings will venture away from home to take on the Carbondale Area Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Riverside knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Carbondale Area likes a good challenge.

On Friday, Riverside blew past Holy Cross, posting a 58-6 win. The victory continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Crusaders: they've now won seven in a row.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 40 points the game before, Carbondale Area was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They were beaten by Lackawanna Trail 35-7. The game marked the Chargers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Riverside's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Carbondale Area, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-3.

Riverside beat Carbondale Area 17-8 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
